ABOUT ME

HEY THERE!
I'm Kirk, and after years in the wedding industry, I sometimes still cry at weddings.
I feel blessed to play a role in such an important occasion. My goal is to capture the way you felt the day of your wedding. The mood that was in the air, the joining of two families. I love visually telling the story of your day, with my own flair, building to the moment you've long awaited.

MY STYLE
I appreciate the importance of a "moment", versus a pose. While poses can be great, the spontaneous, organic, genuine, and unforced real moments are the most moving. I love to catch couples and their closest loved ones being themselves. People feel more free to be themselves, when you're not in their face with a camera, go figure! For this reason, I try to be an unobtrusive "fly on the wall" as much as possible.

MY STORY
I was first exposed to photography by my father, who had an darkroom on our basement as a kid. I'd marvel at his experimentation with double-exposures, enlarging, exposing, and developing in a chemical bath.
Later in the 90s I was gifted a Nikon by my grandmother, and I fell in love. The sound of it's motor advancing film is still magical. Fast forward to 2002, and I invested in a Canon SLR Film camera from Ra-Lin, which I'd soon regret as the advent of digital was unfolding. I leapt head-first into the very first Canon Digital Rebel, then several subsequent models- paying for my hobby with portfolios of stock-photography on istockphoto/Getty Images, Dreamstime, and others .
In 2020, a relative working for Amazon in NYC asked if I could help him setup a video streaming program for quarantined workers. That my friends, was my foray into video. From there I began doing wedding videography, and soon-after, wondered why the heck I wasn't shooting still-photos. I'd work with so many awesome talented local photographers (Alicia Pierce, Chris Szulwach + others), many of whom actually referred clients to me, so the decision didn't come lightly... But in the end- I love it. It's been a passion for as far back as I can remember, and being able to pause peoples most important moments and family members, to be remembered forever, is something I don't take lightly.

A NOTE ABOUT COLOR AND LIGHT
My color grading process leans toward Bright and Airy, Classic, Natural / True to life colors, rather than dark or "moody".
I aim for bright and crisp images, and opt for natural light over flash whenever possible. I like to be transparent about this, as it's important that you choose someone to preserve your memories who has a similar vision as you.
