ABOUT ME

kirk-syracuse-photographer-mstr_web-2.jpg

Hey there!
I'm Kirk, and after years in the wedding industry, I sometimes still cry at weddings.

I feel blessed to play a role in such an important occasion. My goal is to capture the way you felt the day of your wedding. The mood that was in the air, the joining of two families. I love visually telling the story of your day, with my own flair, building to the moment you've long awaited.

My Style

I appreciate the importance of a "moment", versus a pose. While poses can be great, the spontaneous, organic, genuine, and unforced real moments are the most moving. I love to catch couples and their closest loved ones being themselves. People feel more free to be themselves, when you're not in their face with a camera, go figure! For this reason, I try to be an unobtrusive "fly on the wall" as much as possible.

A Note About Color and Light

At the risk of being redundant with what you've seen all over the website lol- my color grading process leans toward Bright and Airy, Classic, Natural / True to life colors, rather than dark or "moody". I aim for bright and crisp images, and opt for natural light over flash whenever possible. I like to be transparent about this, as it's important that you choose someone to preserve your memories who has a similar vision as you.

My Story

My journey into photography started as a kid in my father’s darkroom, watching the magic of images appear on photo paper under the red glow of the safelight. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong fascination with capturing moments and telling stories through images. I got my first real taste of photography when my grandmother gifted me a Nikon camera, giving me the tools to experiment, learn, and develop my own style. That gift set me on a path of discovery that eventually led to buying my first SLR Film Camera in 2003. From there, I immersed myself in the technical and creative sides of photography—learning composition, lighting, and the art of capturing genuine moments. Today, I bring that same sense of wonder and attention to detail to every wedding I photograph and film. My goal is to create light and airy images and cinematic films that preserve authentic moments and tell each couple’s unique story.

My Path in the Wedding World

Fun Fact: For over a decade I ran a successful wedding DJ company in the Syracuse area—providing DJs, photo-booths, light-scaping and more. Over time, as I discovered just how much I loved being behind the camera, but still love the wedding industry. I've  gradually handed the reins of DJ services to a small but extremely professional team I curated. That lets me focus on my passion for photography and video. If you’re looking for a trusted DJ partner, we’ve still got that covered — check out SelectReceptions.com!
