Overlooking the breathtaking waters of Skaneateles Lake in the Finger Lakes region of Central New York, Briana and Ian became one — and it was one of the most beautiful and genuinely moving wedding days we have ever had the privilege of capturing as a Sherwood Inn wedding photographers and videographer.

Their preparations began at the iconic Sherwood Inn in Skaneateles, NY — in the elegant Main Inn and the adjacent Hannum House, both beautifully appointed with historic charm and timeless touches that provided an absolutely ideal backdrop for getting ready. Their original plans didn't include prep coverage, but we arrived early and we are so glad we did. The building anticipation when a couple so deeply in love gets ready for their wedding day translates beautifully on film — and Briana and Ian were no exception. Every quiet moment, every knowing smile, every burst of excitement was a joy to capture.

They tied the knot at the First Presbyterian Church of Skaneateles, just up the road from the Sherwood Inn — a beautiful and historic church perfectly suited for their meaningful ceremony. Their moving, personalized service included all the sacred significance you would expect, with the deeply personal addition of vows they had written themselves — giving everyone in attendance a window all the way back into how their relationship began, how it grew, and the beautiful promises they were now making to each other for life.

After the ceremony, guests made their way back to the Sherwood Inn for cocktails, dinner, and dancing on the shores of Skaneateles Lake. The Sherwood Inn is one of the most beloved and prestigious wedding venues in all of the Finger Lakes region — historic, elegant, and set in one of the most beautiful towns in New York State. As a Skaneateles wedding photographer and videographer, we consider it one of our favorite venues to work at in all of Central New York.

A special note on the music — finding the right soundtrack for a wedding film takes considerable time and care, as we only use properly licensed music. After searching extensively for just the right sound, the answer was right in front of us. The song Briana and Ian chose for their first dance was by Ben Rector — an artist whose music is available for license — and it was the perfect, beautiful backdrop for their film.

It was a genuine pleasure working alongside wedding planner Taylor Carr, a close personal friend of Briana's who traveled from Ohio to coordinate the day, and photographer Jennifer Vrooman, whose work was wonderful throughout. The seamless coordination with Melissa from the Sherwood Inn made the entire day flow perfectly from beginning to end.
