Carly & Fred’s Intimate Wedding at the Sherwood Inn in Skaneateles, NY

Weddings aren't about how many people are in the room, but how much love fills it.
Carly and Fred's intimate wedding at the Sherwood Inn in Skaneateles, New York, was a beautiful reminder of that. Surrounded by their closest family, they celebrated their marriage with a day filled with meaningful moments, personal touches, and time spent with the people who matter most.
As a Skaneateles wedding photographer, these are the kinds of celebrations I love documenting. The focus isn't on putting on a show. It's about capturing the genuine connections, emotions, and little moments that make each wedding unique.
A First Look and Private Vows
One of the highlights of the day was Carly and Fred's first look on the lawn at Hannum House. A first look gives couples the chance to see one another before the ceremony, away from the excitement and attention of the rest of the day. Following that, we headed across to street so the two could share private vows by the lake- creating a quiet, personal moment before joining their families for the ceremony.
These moments are some of my favorites to photograph. There's no audience to play to and no need to worry about the schedule. It's simply two people taking a moment to appreciate what they're about to begin together.
An Intimate Ceremony for their Sherwood Inn wedding

The ceremony took place in the Sherwood Inn's beautiful front sunroom porch, with family gathered close to witness Carly and Fred exchange vows.
Having Fred's brother, Andrew, officiate made the ceremony especially personal. There is something meaningful about having a family member guide you through such an important milestone, bringing a connection to the ceremony that goes beyond the words themselves.
With their loved ones surrounding them, Carly and Fred officially began this next chapter of their lives together.
It was intimate, heartfelt, and a perfect reflection of what the day was all about.
Wedding Portraits Along Skaneateles Lake
After the ceremony, we took advantage of the beautiful surroundings for wedding portraits around Skaneateles.
With its charming village streets, historic character, and stunning lake views, Skaneateles offers an incredible setting for wedding photography. We enjoyed a walk along the water and made our way to the pier, creating a collection of portraits that captured both the beauty of the location and the connection between Carly and Fred.
My approach to wedding photography is natural and relaxed. I want couples to enjoy their time together rather than feel as though they're spending the day posing for a camera. By giving couples room to interact naturally, I can capture photographs that feel genuine while still being timeless and beautiful.
The lake provided a gorgeous backdrop, but the best part was capturing Carly and Fred enjoying this time together as newlyweds.
Celebrating with Family
The celebration continued with dinner at the Sherwood Inn, bringing everyone together to enjoy the occasion.
One of the wonderful things about an intimate wedding is the opportunity to spend real time with your guests. With a smaller gathering, there's more room for conversations, shared stories, and moments that might otherwise get lost in a busy wedding schedule.
Carly and Fred's day was centered on those connections. Their families came together to celebrate, creating memories that will remain part of their story for years to come.
A special thank-you to Megan for helping coordinate the day and making everything come together so smoothly.
Congratulations, Carly & Fred!
Carly and Fred, thank you for allowing me to be part of your wedding day. It was a pleasure documenting such a personal celebration and capturing the moments you shared with your families.
Your wedding was a wonderful reminder that a celebration doesn't have to be large to be extraordinary. When you're surrounded by the people you love, that's more than enough. Congratulations to you both!
