There is something truly magical about Syracuse in late April. The city begins to shake off the winter chill, the first blossoms start to peek out, and the light takes on a soft, hopeful quality. It was the absolute perfect backdrop for Elizabeth and James’s engagement session.

Elizabeth and James are such an incredible couple to work with—genuine, full of energy, and clearly so happy to be starting this next chapter together. Since they actually live right near Franklin Square, it felt only natural to capture their photos there.

A Perfect Setting in Franklin Square

We met up about an hour before sunset to catch that coveted "golden hour" light. Franklin Square is a gem for engagement photography; its classic architecture and manicured greenery provide a timeless, sophisticated feel. We started near the main park, where the open spaces allowed for those bright, airy frames that really highlight a couple's connection.

Strolling Toward the Riverwalk

As the evening progressed, we took a slow stroll down toward the Syracuse Inner Harbor Riverwalk. This time of year is especially stunning because the trees lining the path are just beginning to bloom, adding a delicate touch of spring color to every shot.

The highlight of the session happened as we reached the water. The sun was dipping lower in the sky, casting a warm, radiant glow over everything. That specific "golden hour" light is a photographer’s dream—it creates a natural shimmer that perfectly matched the joy Elizabeth and James shared throughout the walk.

Looking Ahead

Working with these two didn't feel like work at all; it felt like hanging out with old friends. Their chemistry is effortless, and it made capturing their love story a total breeze.

Elizabeth and James, thank you for letting me document this special time in your lives. I had a blast exploring your neighborhood with you, and I wish you nothing but the very best as you plan your big day!
