Emma & Pearse’s Syracuse Engagement Photography Session at Upper Onondaga Park

Last week, On June 4, I had the pleasure of photographing Emma and Pearse’s engagement session on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far. After weeks of rain in Central New York, we were finally gifted a warm, sunny afternoon that couldn’t have been more perfect for a photo session.
Emma chose Upper Onondaga Park in Syracuse, NY as the location for their engagement photos. She first discovered the park during the Mountain Goat Run, where she ran past it and was taken by the beauty of the willow trees and the quiet lake views. It’s one of those hidden gems in the city — full of greenery, soft light, and peaceful walking paths that made it an ideal spot to celebrate their engagement with photos.
We took our time walking through the park, stopping to shoot in different pockets of light and scenery. Emma had a few specific poses in mind, and I loved working with her to bring those ideas to life. She and Pearse have such an easy, affectionate way of interacting — it made capturing natural, candid moments effortless. As golden hour set in, the light turned warm and glowy, and we stayed out as long as we could to make the most of that dreamy evening sun.
The session felt relaxed, genuine, and full of joy. We ended up with a beautiful variety of images — from playful, spontaneous shots to romantic, softly posed portraits. Upper Onondaga Park gave us the perfect mix of nature and quiet beauty, and Emma’s vision for the session truly came together in such an organic way.
I’m so excited to be photographing Emma and Pearse’s wedding next year at Watervale Ridge in Manlius, New York. If their engagement session is any indication, their wedding day is going to be filled with love, style, and so many heartfelt moments. I can’t wait!
